What is it?

Cirencester & District Beekeepers offers a structured theory course over the winter months (Jan – April) to support anyone wishing to learn about beekeeping. 
The program consists of the following modules: 

  1. The Honeybee - the beekeeper and their community                                  13th Jan 2027
  2. The City of the Honeybee – the natural History                                           27th Jan 2027 
  3. The Beekeeping Year – the work of a beekeeper                                         10th Feb 2027 
  4. Making a practical start – Hives and Equipment                                         24th Feb 2027          
  5. The Swarm – the Romance, Biology and Management                               0th Mar 2027
  6. Flowers, Forage and Honey                                                                             24th Mar 2027
  7. Bee Health and Disease Management – Keeping Bees Healthy             7th April 2027 
  8. Apiary Session – A chance to see inside a Bee Hive                                      To Be Advised

We will provide students with
  • course notes
  • a copy of the BBKA Guide to Beekeeping (RRP £15)

​Modules 1 - 7 are classroom based sessions.  They will all start at 19:00 and finish around 21:00.  
They will be held at the Royal Agricultural University in Cirencester.  

Module 8 will be a visit to one of the club Apiaries. The date and location for this will be announced nearer the time as it will depend upon the weather and when the Bee Keeping season will start in 2027.
​Bee suits and vinyl gloves are supplied, so all you need to bring is a pair of wellies (or similar footwear)!
